In 1914 my paternal grandfather George Osborn Morgan was working for the Cooperative Wholesale Society in Cardiff. He enlisted with the British Expeditionary Force and went to France. Having been promoted to Corporal he transferred to the Royal Army Service Corps. He was promoted to Company Sergeant Major and then Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant. He survived the war and returned to work for the CWS.
