John Geoffrey Smerdon

John Merdon was born in 1893 and lived at Bishhops Hull,Taunton. At the out break of the first World war he joined the Somerset light Infantry as a Second Lieutenant. He was unfortunately killed on the 20/09/1917.

From information gathered from war records it is likely that Lieutenant Smerdon was awarded the Victory Medal, the Star and War Medal often to referred to as Pip.Squeak,& Wilfred.

The Photo and written memorial is dedicated to 2nd Lieutenant Smerdon. The letter headed Buckingham Palace is a rare letter sent to Lieutenant,s relatives from King George.
